Product Description
This is a great airgun for the young shooter. The break-barrel design features a composite stock and all-weather Belgium-matte finish on the receiver and one-piece rifled steel barrel that will accommodate just about any climate. The sporter trigger features an automatic safety. This air rifle comes with a mounted 4X20 scope that is ready to go right out of the box with some minor adjustment to customize to the individual shooter. This .177cal air rifle has an average velocity of 500fps.

Excellent value, heavy for pre-teens... June 4, 2008
I have both the SS550 and the GH500. Both are very similar in build, feel and performance.
The scope needs a dial in, takes about 20 minutes or so but once it is set it is set. I have had mine set about 5 months ago and still accurate as ever.
Both rifles are very quiet, like spitting a cherry-pit ;)but on the heavy side. This makes them hard to use for my son.
Also, the break-barrel requires grown up muscle.
So for the adults looking for an accurate beginner air rifle: this is a pleasure. I have since moved into more expensive equipmentbut these come out whenever we have a backyard BBQ with a shooting competition.
Great value and good equipment. Beeman = quality.
Oh yeah: it's composite, not wood.
