Lots of easy fun, target shooting without the hassle of firearms June 22, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I own a number of different air rifles as well as firearms and this gun is my favorite. It is FUN and very easy to shoot. I moved towards air guns because real firearms are such a hassle (expensive ammo, range fees, gun cleaning, etc.). CO2 guns are probably the most expensive air guns to shoot because you need to buy CO2, but they are still less than the cost of 22LR. Plus, you don't need to clean the guns. There are some claims that cleaning the guns improves accuracy, but others dispute that. I've seen no difference so I stopped cleaning it and after 1000 rounds, it's still shooting just fine. The only thing you really need to do is put some oil on the end of the Airsource CO2 cartridge every 2-3 changes.

Value: The Nightstalker TK comes with some neat-looking accessories as well as 4 magazines and one Airsource cylinder which make a pretty good deal. The flashlight is mostly cosmetic to me since I can't see myself shooting this at night, but the bipod is a useful stand and the red dot is decent. I ended up replacing the stock red-dot with a Walther PS22 which has better optics and a much wider field of view. If you can afford the PS22 (~$60), I'd highly recommend it as an upgrade to the NS TK.
Performance: First of all, this is not a precision airgun. It is for putting a lot of lead downrange fairly quickly. Firing from the bipod, I can get a clip of 12 to land in roughly a 2" circle at 60 feet. Decent, but not pinpoint accurate. However, it's accurate enough to have a lot of plinking fun and deal with a pest or two if you need to.
Comparison: I have several other airguns and this is the most convenient. My pump pneumatic gun is fine, but slow rate of fire due to the need for multiple pumps. My spring piston gun is powerful and accurate, but spring guns are not the easiest guns to learn how to shoot since they have a significant recoil when you fire them and some require decent strength to [...] the gun.
If you want to get your girlfriend/wife to try guns, this is a great place to start. Easy to shoot, zero recoil. I'm not wanting to be sexist, but face it, most of the time guys are trying to get their girls to try guns and not vice versa.
Convenience: The main reason I went to airguns was cost and convenience. I got a heavy-duty bullet trap to hold the targets and stop the pellets and the guns are quiet enough that I can shoot in my back yard and the neighbors don't notice at all. I don't have to spend 2 hours driving to the firing range, lugging all my guns and gear, pay for ammo and range fees, etc. I can shoot off a few dozen rounds in my back yard pellet trap and get a quick fix and I'm done after using up only a few dollars worth of CO2 and pellets.
I've heard of some people having problems with jamming with this gun. So far, I've put well over 1000 rounds through it and I've had it jam maybe 3 times. Everytime it has jammed was under low ambient temperature conditions (~50F) so it was likely because of lower CO2 pressure due to temperature. I'm just using plain old Crosman pointed pellets, not even Premier and they work fine. I've also tried Crosman Premier hollow points and they work fine as well.
So, if you're looking for some good, inexpensive, convenient shooting fun, this gun is it. I'd highly recommend looking into pellet traps and other accessories as well.
