Walther P99 March 10, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this gun new for $25. (I actually bought the black version of this gun) The good: It has very good power for being a lower end gun and was not too difficult to load and fire. It shoots pretty straight, even though there is no adjustable hop up...as far as I know...adjustable being the key word here. Its got a trigger and slide safety--which makes it safe...er. It also has a clip that holds around 100 in its reservoir-which makes reloading a lot easier--some guns require you to manually load each bb into the spring loader--which can slow you down. Im not sure what the 'compensator/silencer' is for besides looks. It doesnt really compensate for anything--or silence anything...but it doesnt take away from the gun. There are some metal parts--safety latch, magazine release, trigger--and maybe some inside metal--but not much--especially in the clear version. The magazine has a release connected to the trigger guard, which is cool. The magazine is clear in both the clear and black versions, making it easy to see how much ammo you have available.
Now to the not so good: This gun is light weight--which might be good for toddlers dueling for bottles, but it sort of feels cheap...not as cheap as the dollar store airsoft, but not as good for the money as i expected. Sometimes when cocking the slider back it feels like it wont engage the spring--which is denoted by a red dot on the back end of the slider--have to make sure you pull it all the way back or the bb won't load. Anyway, other than that, this gun is not too bad for the money. Dont buy it where you have to pay as much for shipping as you do the gun--dont spend $40 for the gun with shipping--go buy it at a store--or wherever there is free shipping. I ended up paying $44 dollars ($25+$19 Shipping) thinking that this would be a long lasting, high quality gun--but i was let down..... Three days after buying it, I was about to shoot it one lazy sunday afternoon, when bang! I pulled the slider back--then allowed it to move forward as usual--and a piece of the slider broke off (where the slider and the chamber meet) just broke half of the plastic off at an angle--so now theres a hole revealing the inside of the chamber--right on the top left side on the middle of the slider. But thats not all--the rear of the slider-where the red dot indicator is located--cracked around the edges--coming right out of the grooved housing that keeps it in place. Superglue could probably fix this problem, but not likely to fix the cracked part in the middle of the slider. Now im just afraid to even use the gun. No telling what else will break. I had such high hopes for this gun--it worked fine for two days--and then sudden death. It can still be shot--but its no more dependable than the dollar store airsoft guns.
So thats my account of this gun--just my experience..Others might only have good things to say--but if you want to get a better gun, go with something thats full metal--plastic--even the high impact stuff--just doesnt outlast metal---oh, one more thing, the semi auto spring pistols/rifles pale in comparison to the full auto electric/full metal versions--they are a lot more fun
Kick But Gun!!!!! August 9, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
THis gun Rocks!!!!! The first time I picked it up, it felt really nice in my hand. There are lots of metal parts wich makes it more reliable than any other gun i've had. Even though it has plastic on it, it's very strong, heavy weight plastic that won't break easily. Here are some pros and cons about the gun:
Pros Lots of metal parts great fps (300fps) resevoir on clips (100 bb resevoir) heavy weight makes it feel realistic The silencer actually works
Cons Clip capacity is a little low The gun is clear
THe pros outway the cons by so much. I love this pistol and would reccomend it to any one who needs a good side arm. Get This Gun!!!!!
awesome pistol!!! April 16, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
it will last a very long time. made of high-impact ABS plastic and many of the parts are metal like the trigger and the safety. the silencer actually works a little. without the silencer it makes a crack when it fires (normal, not broken). with the silencer it makes a dull thunk! awesome and quiet!
