3 out of 5 stars a good close range combat gun   July 11, 2010

Didn't get it off amazon, but got the exact same model (double eagle, comes with flashlight and red dot scope) from a mall for $40. Wish I noticed it here online first, but still pretty happy with what I got for the price.

The cocking slide/rod appears to be steel and gives the gun an OK weight. Definitely not 1:1 weight ratio, but doesn't feel super cheap either. IT ONLY SHOOTS 1 BB PER SHOT. So you're basically paying for a pretty inaccurate rifle. Used it in close indoor combat though and it seems to be around 270-300 FPS with .12 BB's. The clip loads approximately 20-24 shots and when you take out the clip you find that there's always 2 BB's that fall out so you never get to unload your entire clip. On the upside you can hold the trigger and keep pumping for what the manual calls "running shooting" so you don't have to release the trigger before pumping to fire again. The hop-up system definitely works but given the lack of an adequate scope (see below) it's best to set it somewhere between "hop" and "normal". Tried shooting cans from 20 feet away and had trouble so ended up firing from the hip and getting a feel for where to aim.

In terms of the accessories, it's the usual with all Double Eagle products -- cheap ABS plastic. The scope's red dot is supposed to be adjustable both laterally and vertically, but despite turning both knobs I've been unable to make the scope useful at all. But then again unless you have an RIS iron sight or something it's better to have the scope than nothing on it -- just looks cooler. The flashlight came with batteries that must've been drained because the light died after about a minute.

In short:

Pros:
-Excellent close-range, no-scope weapon
-"Running shooting" feature
-OK weight

Cons:
-Clip doesn't unload entirely and leaves 2 BB's between the clip and the gun
-Accessories esp. the scope is inaccurate and therefore unnecessary
-Shoots only 1 BB, so why not just get a regular spring rifle that you can actually aim?

At the end of the day I still like the shotgun, makes a good "last stand" weapon after you empty your AEG or CO2 rifle. If you want this to be accurate as an aiming weapon I recommend you ditch the scope and buy a better one or just get iron sights.
