4 out of 5 stars Nice   May 24, 2010

The pole is to short for the snipers that I have but works great for the AK, shotguns, and pistols that I have.

2 out of 5 stars Gammo air rifle cleaning kit   April 23, 2010

This is a bare bones kit with cheaply fabricated pieces making up the cleaning rod. The worst surprise was that the gun oil bottle contained about a teaspoon of oil. Seems ridiculous since this liquid is the only fluid supplied for cleaning.

4 out of 5 stars 4 stars because it will put the rating where it belongs at 2.5   April 9, 2010

The first thing I had to do was to clean the grease and metal from the threads of the cleaning rods which are cheaply made and do not align very well. I will have to bevel the ends so they will not damage the bore. Once I cleaned the rods they are easy to assemble and disassemble. The oil container spout is much nicer than the Gamo oil you buy separately, this one screws on and off.

The plastic box is nice and has ample storage for pellets. The rod was not covered with a sticky material and there was only a very slight petroleum distillate smell when I opened it.

The instructions are good for someone like me who just got their first air rifle.

Yes this is a cheaply made kit, but I am also cheap or I would have purchased the RWS Shooter Cleaning Kit for Airgun .177 Caliber for $51.94. I would rather make modifications to the rods than spend over $50 for good ones.

When you compare this kit with the Daisy kit Daisy Cleaning Kit (.177 caliber) which costs $22.13 ($15.99 + $6.14 shipping) you get the plastic case and more cleaning supplies for less money.

If you want a good kit you will have to pay $41.99 + $9.95 shipping for it RWS Shooter Cleaning Kit for Airgun .177 Caliber, you will get a quality rod.

Overall I am satisifed with my purchase, if not I would have used Amazon's return.

First thing you will get opening the box is a shrill smell of a terpentine. I could not locate the source, I think it's a "GAMO Oil". Cleaning rod is a still 3-piece rod, each section encased in alluminum tube. The thread cut in aluminum and was badly damaged on 2 out of 3 pieces, making the cleaning rod unusable. The rod itself was covered with something sticky and stinky (GAMO Oil?). Nylon brush had couple of long whiskers and needed to be trimmed. Handle of the rod is non-rotating once you manage to assemble the rod. I had to exchange the kit to get a usable rod [...]. The whole impression is of very cheap amature article. Would not recommend it to friends.
